Gestational Diabetes

I just found out that I have Gestational Diabetes......ugh!! I sure feel better when I eat the right things, but it is a bummer eating so much protein. I miss sugar, flour and carbs!!! A big bowl of pasta sounds so amazing!!! It should go away when Alexa comes, but I feel like I'm on a worse diet than Weight Watchers. That was easy compared to this. I really feel for all the diabetics in the world, its a hard thing to deal with!

Hey Kerri-I just had this huge post for you, and it wouldn't post for some reason! Aghh!! Anyway, I wanted to tell you I'm sorry you have gd. I had to test twice with two of the kids for gd. I seriously thought I had it, and there is a great website I would read on babycenter.com (I think you look up diabetes during pregnancy,if you can't find it let me know and I will give you the exact address, it really was very helpful!!) They have a board full of ladies that all have gd. They swap snack and food ideas, talk about blood sugar levels, and can answer questions you may have. You should check it out. One thing I remember is to always eat a protein with a carb. Like apple slices with cheese, or peanut butter with graham crackers...etc. You should read it. I'm sorry to hear that you have it, if you want to chat give me a call!

Oh Kerri! I guess it is easy to say when you are on the other side of it- but it won't be long!! I had gallstones with one of pregnancies and was put on a low/no fat diet from 13 weeks pg to 6 weeks post partum. I was never satisfied as far as food went but because I ate well my recovery time was very short and the birth experience was my easiest out of the 4. Good luck!!!
